Read how Integra provides Diglossia with AWS Managed Security which helped improve security posture and ensured regulatory compliance.

Since its inception in 2014, Diglossia has embarked on a journey fueled by a singular objective: to revolutionize Arabic literacy education. Driven by visionary leaders, we have committed ourselves to incorporating contemporary assessment data, cutting-edge technologies, and profound insights into the very framework of Arabic language education.

Diglossia holds the exclusive rights to the TALA [Test for Arabic Language Assessment] and Mubakkir assessment platforms, that have been developed in accordance with the Arabic reading level standards established by Dr. Hanada Taha, Endowed Chair Professor of Arabic Language at Zayed University, utilizing state-of-the-art technology within a secure online ecosystem. All test materials are intricately crafted and developed by our dedicated team and regional Arabic language experts.

Diglossia stands out as the premier provider of a comprehensive program that encompasses assessment, training, strategic planning, data analysis, and reporting across all grade levels from KG2 to grade 11. Our research-based, valid, and reliable Arabic assessments are widely adopted throughout the region.

These assessments play a crucial role in identifying student learning gaps, and monitoring progress in early literacy skills, including phonemic and phonological awareness, alphabetic understanding, oral reading fluency, and proficiency in reading, writing, and vocabulary at both elementary and secondary levels.

Diglossia’s standards-based Arabic assessments provide actionable data to target specific skills, improve student outcomes, and measure progress over time. Diagnostic data allows teachers to provide meaningful formative feedback and develop personalized, evidence-based intervention strategies.

The Challenge

The customer faced significant challenges onboarding new schools, particularly in meeting stringent compliance and benchmark requirements. These challenges included:

1. Compliance with International Standards:

There is a need to adhere to ISO 27001 standards for information security management, ensuring that the schools’ data and operations are secure and align with global best practices.

2. Benchmarking Against Industry Standards:

Meeting the Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks to establish a baseline of secure configurations for IT infrastructure and systems.

Risks for Diglossia

Failure to address these challenges could result in:

The inability to obtain security and operational  approval from various educational regulators in the country, which is critical for the operational authorization of  the Diglossia platform in new schools.

The Solution

To address these challenges, a comprehensive solution was implemented using the following tools and services:

1. Trend Micro:

  • Utilized for Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and container security to ensure secure configurations and compliance in cloud environments.
  • Extended Detection and Response (XDR) to provide advanced threat detection and response capabilities across the network.

2. AWS Network Firewall:

  • Deployed to enhance network security, including protection against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

3. AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall):

  • Implemented to protect web applications from common exploits and vulnerabilities, ensuring a secure online presence.

4. Wazuh:

  • Used as a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution to provide comprehensive monitoring, threat detection, and compliance management.

The Result

The implementation of the proposed solutions delivered significant results and benefits, including:

1. Achieved Compliance:

Successfully met ISO 27001 and CIS benchmarks, ensuring that all new schools adhered to required compliance standards. This achievement demonstrated a commitment to international security standards, improving overall trust and credibility.

2. Regulatory Approval:

Streamlined compliance processes facilitated obtaining the necessary KHDA approvals for operational authorization. This ensured the schools could start their operations without delays, aligning with local regulatory requirements.

3. Enhanced Security Posture:

Leveraged advanced tools to establish a comprehensive security framework:

Trend Micro ensured continuous monitoring and protection against vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.

AWS Network Firewall and AWS WAF provided robust defenses against network-level and application-level threats.

Wazuh enabled compliance reporting through its SIEM capabilities.

Conclusion

By implementing a strategic combination of advanced security tools and frameworks, the customer successfully overcame the challenges of onboarding new schools while meeting stringent compliance and benchmark requirements. They achieved ISO 27001 and CIS compliance, and won regulatory approval, underscoring their commitment to maintaining high standards of security and operational excellence. By using these tools like Trend Micro, AWS Firewall, and Wazuh, the customer ensured a robust and scalable security posture that supports long- term success.
