In today’s digital age, web applications are integral to our daily lives. From e-commerce platforms to social media networks and everything in between, web applications have become a cornerstone of modern business and communication. However, with the growth of the internet, the threats to these applications have also multiplied. Cyberattacks, such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and web application vulnerabilities, can have devastating consequences, including data breaches, downtime, and loss of revenue. To counter these threats and safeguard your web applications, Amazon Web Services (AWS) offers a powerful solution known as AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall).
AWS WAF helps protect your web applications from common web-based attacks such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and cross-site request forgery (CSRF). It can also protect against other types of attacks, like IP-based attacks.
AWS WAF allows you to create rules that specify the conditions under which incoming web traffic should be allowed, blocked, or logged. You can define rules based on various criteria, including IP addresses, HTTP headers, URI strings, and more.
AWS provides managed rule sets that are pre-configured to protect against common threats, such as the OWASP Top Ten security risks. You can use these managed rules to quickly add protection to your web applications.
You can create custom rules tailored to your specific application’s needs. These rules can be based on regex patterns, string matching, or other criteria, giving you fine-grained control over your security policies.
AWS WAF allows you to set rate limits on incoming requests to protect against brute force and DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. You can limit the number of requests per IP address or per URI, for example.
AWS WAF can log information about requests that match your rules, allowing you to monitor and analyze traffic patterns and security events. You can integrate these logs with other AWS services like Amazon CloudWatch and AWS Lambda for further analysis and response.
You can easily integrate AWS WAF with other AWS services like Amazon CloudFront (content delivery network), Amazon API Gateway (API protection), and Application Load Balancers (load balancer security) to provide comprehensive protection for your applications.
AWS WAF can be configured and managed using AWS CloudFormation templates or AWS WAFv2 API, making it suitable for automated deployment and scaling.
“We have built an ecosystem that can easily be scaled and replicated. With the help of Integra Technologies and AWS, we have a system and infrastructure that puts us quite far ahead of our competition.”
“Diglossia was operating a platform that was quite limited in our ability to scale due to the constraints of the local data centers and the varied usage of our testing apllications - heavy during school terms, but hardly any usage during the holidays. The move to AWS and the modernization that were able to do with Integra Technologies as our go-to partner changed our business entirely. The platform is now extremely scalable, reslient and able to cater to multiple customers, with new customer platform onboarding taking just minutes. No only did we see improved business revenues, we saw customer statisfaction of our platform rise dramatically.”
